Paul Nielsen owns a piece of paper, located somewhere in his house (not on the wall) stating that he earned a B.F.A. in studio art from the University of Nebraska in 2001. While there, he studied architecture, graphic design and ceramics, graduating with a degree in studio art.
He spends time in his basement studio as much as possible, which is not nearly enough. The anchors for his sculpture are clay and wood. Chief among his inspirations are the billowing thunderstorms that glide across the prairie he grew up on.
Paul presently serves as communication manager for M-DAT, doing their print design and marketing. Besides the plastic arts, his interests include architecture, community planning, bicycling, theology (from a layperson’s point of view) and aesthetics. He blogs about the latter on The Aesthetic Elevator, which he founded in 2005. ![]()
