Themes

Two themes run strongest through my work. Thunderstorms over the prairie. I have a personal history with tornadoes, living through the Night of the Twisters when I was three years old. I feared storms, particularly those that brought out the tornado sirens, until I was 12 years old or so, at which point I became fascinated with them. It was convenient that I grew up on the prairie, where such billowing and beautiful supercells could be easily observed. The human response to technology. For the most part my day job has involved computer and internet technology since I graduated from college. This has been difficult at times for a tactile person, a person who likes to get his hands dirty, literally. As such, when I'm not exploring the form, light and space of a prairie thunderstorm, I'm likely to be creating works that examine human interaction with technology.
